Hi Ranju, David,
Thanks for bringing these two issues to my attention.
When first developing the plugin I think we decided that using the user type would be the easiest and most suitable approach to determining if a user's ORCID affiliation should be set in either the Education or Employment section of their user profile. Whether
or not a user is a researcher or student isn't something is consistently definedi n EPrints, but based on what we saw a number of repositories using in practice, it seemed best to go with the user type field as the filter. If you need to change this however
you may be able to override the OrcidSync Event plugin so it uses different criteria (I think https://github.com/eprints/orcid_support_advance/blob/c938958c1f4f0f72f016a04b0962f180b8d79246/lib/plugins/EPrints/Plugin/Event/OrcidSync.pm#L33-L37 would
be the bit that needs changing).
With regards to the Trusted Organisations entry not being removed when a user disconnects their repository account from their orcid.org profile, it looks like this is an oversight from the original plugin development. We'll try and get that resolved as soon
as possible and get the change added to GitHub for people to review/use!
Thanks again for alerting us to this and it's good to hear you are finding the plugin generally useful!
Many thanks,
Will

Only if you have different user types for staff and students in EPrints itself. I am not a developer on this plugin, so I don't know why the choice to use user type to determine whether to set education of employment affiliation was made. However, I think it is quite common for repositories to have different user types for staff and students, as you would typically want to greater restrict the permissions of students using EPrints.
