Re: [EP-tech] [EXTERNAL] Re: ORCID integration

Hi Ranju,

Only if you have different user types for staff and students in EPrints itself.  I am not a developer on this plugin, so I don't know why the choice to use user type to determine whether to set education of employment affiliation was made.  However, I think it is quite common for repositories to have different user types for staff and students, as you would typically want to greater restrict the permissions of students using EPrints.

Thanks David.

One more issue with ORCID integration is about user's education affiliation.

Currently the only user types that I can set is "user", "Editors" and "Repository Administrators" when registering someone in eprints.There is no distinction between staff and student. #

Because of this if I enable user education affiliation in ORCID advanced plugin configuration and set a user type to be user, all users who connect from our repo to ORCID will have their education set as Maynooth University i.e. the following array

$c->{orcid_support_advance}->{education_user_types} = ["user"];

is there a way one could distinguish between staff and student?
Best Regards
Ranju

Hi Ranju,

I have raised this as an issue on the GitHub repository:

https://github.com/eprints/orcid_support_advance/issues/58

I am not sure if there is code in the ORCID Support Advance plugin that should be doing this or it is just a case that it is broken.  That would take further investigation and is why I have raised the GitHub issue.  However, if ORCID state this should be happening then it must be considered a bug one way or the other.

we are testing ORCID integration in eprints. we have installed all the plugins and most of the things seem to work. However, there is one part that does not seem to work as ORCID expects it to. When a user disconnects from ORCID in her/his profile in eprints, the "Trusted Organisation" section in ORCID side does not get updated i.e it does not delete the Trusted Organisation from users profile in ORCID even though the user has disconnected .

ORCID says it should.

My question is , should that be deleted ?

Does anyone know?
