CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.
Thanks again David.
Until now it was working fine for us without distinguishing between a staff and student user. But with possible ORCID integration it might be better to create that distinction.
If we were to add a new user type (say "student_user"), where will I have to dig into?
I found this on eprints wiki. Is user_roles.pl the file to change and add a new class of user here?

Only if you have different user types for staff and students in EPrints itself. I am not a developer on this plugin, so I don't know why the choice to use user type to determine whether to set education of employment affiliation was made. However, I think it is quite common for repositories to have different user types for staff and students, as you would typically want to greater restrict the permissions of students using EPrints.
