Re: [EP-tech] Hyperauthorship

Not specifically for hyperauthoring, but I implemented a rendering change to deal with the situation where our authors (idenitifed by creator_id) were part of a group as far as the citation was concerned ( e.g. "Smith, J.; Jones, C. and the fancy telescope operations group (2017)..." ) but we still wanted them to be able to be listed so things were attributed to them.
I essentially told the system to ignore anything after an entry where the creator_id was "group" when it was building a citation.
I also added the option for a custom citation on some item types where the desired citation was far outside the standard the system generates, and to use that instead if it exists on the item.
Our largest so far (Astrophysics) has 591 authors and they are all listed in the creators field, and rendered. We also have a few in the 400+ author count range. I believe they were all imported from crossref or possibly via Bibtex. As I'd also just been having to deal with these items I was starting to consider the ways to reduce at least the rendering to something sensible, but that's probably a management discussion first of all!

Hi all,

I wrote some code to hide authors using Javscript. See:

https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fresearchonline.ljmu.ac.uk%2Fid%2Feprint%2F7570%2F&data=01%7C01%7Ceprints-tech%40ecs.soton.ac.uk%7C97db37cd5b2a4f0995aa08d6da0372dc%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0&sdata=tzw9pyi1irEBAq6E8ioPFaulgLHzgNFGXAV8zBjRrJc%3D&reserved=0

I have just looked at the render function and it is quite complicated but does the job. The only problem arises if you want to integrate with things like ORCID badges on links for internal authors. Where this function then gets even more complicated.

David Newman
