[EP-tech] Re: Upgrading to EPrints 3.3.12

If you created any EPrints/Documents when Apache was running as the 'broken' user, they'll be owned by that user (e.g. www-data).
Check that everything under ~/archives/ARCHIVEID/documents/ and ~/archives/ARCHIVEID/html/ is owned/grouped by the one that Apache is running as.

Hi Ranju,

Yes I had a similar problem and had to change the ownership. But, I've now changed the owner/group in the apache config /etc/apache2/envars  to eprints and restarted apache but I'm still getting the same error when I try to create an eprint. I don't want to have to reinstall.

Hi Malcom,

I did a fresh install of 3.3.12 on RHEL 6 and found that when httpd is owned
by a different user I could not access the eprints interface at all. On
changing the ownership(user and group) of httpd to eprints it worked!

The default ownership and group is eprints.eprints. If the default is being
used then the ownership and group of the Apache should also be
eprints.eprints.

On the other hand, if you had used the --with-user option while configuring
the eprints software then the ownership and group of the Apache should be
same as the one that you had used while configuring eprints software.
