Hi Malcom, I did a fresh install of 3.3.12 on RHEL 6 and found that when httpd is owned by a different user I could not access the eprints interface at all. On changing the ownership(user and group) of httpd to eprints it worked! Should I have installed as use www-data? > Should I change my Apache to run as eprints? > The default ownership and group is eprints.eprints. If the default is being used then the ownership and group of the Apache should also be eprints.eprints. On the other hand, if you had used the --with-user option while configuring the eprints software then the ownership and group of the Apache should be same as the one that you had used while configuring eprints software.
