Hi Malcolm, As Francis mentioned, if you used the --with-user option when installing EPrints, Apache should be running as user 'eprints' (I think this should be reflected in perl_lib/EPrints/SystemSettings.pm). You can check using the ps command what user is Apache effectively running as. If it happens to be 'eprints', try creating a file as user eprints and see who owns it. I hope this helps, Jose -----Original Message----- From: eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk [mailto:eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Malcolm Bodger Sent: 16 October 2013 10:40 To: eprints-tech@ecs.soton.ac.uk Subject: [EP-tech] Re: Upgrading to EPrints 3.3.12 Hi Ranju, Yes I had a similar problem and had to change the ownership. But, I've now changed the owner/group in the apache config /etc/apache2/envars to eprints and restarted apache but I'm still getting the same error when I try to create an eprint. I don't want to have to reinstall. Thanks. On changing the ownership(user and group) of httpd to eprints it worked! If the default is being used then the ownership and group of the Apache should also be eprints.eprints. On the other hand, if you had used the --with-user option while configuring the eprints software then the ownership and group of the Apache should be same as the one that you had used while configuring eprints software. Hope this helps. - Francis JRD Tata Library IISc, Bangalore, India > Thanks, > Malcolm. > > > The University of Westminster is a charity and a company limited by > guarantee.
