RE: [EP-tech] Robots

CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.

Hi Will,
Welcome to EPrints!
😊

EPrints has an integration with the Google ReCAPTCHA service, which can be useful in limiting bot activity.

How is the ‘request an accessible copy’ option presented?

If it uses the EPrints ‘request’ workflow, the notes here: https://github.com/eprints/eprints3.4/blob/master/lib/workflows/request/default.xml and here: https://wiki.eprints.org/w/Recaptcha_fieldmight be of use.

If is does something else, there may be other ways of limiting the bot activity.

If you’re not sure how your request stuff works, if you can point me in the direction of an page with the ‘accessible copy request’ on it, I might be able to work it out.

Cheers,

John

Morning all,

I'm fairly new to EPrints and I was just looking for some suggestions please about possible ways of dealing with a situation which arose here last week. We discovered that a bot or other entity was repeatedly requesting an accessible copy of one of our articles. Does anyone have any advice for securing the request form to curtail this kind of behaviour? Thanks.

Will
