Hi Greg, In the creator compound field, there’s normally space for name (family, given etc.), and also ‘email’. This ‘email’ field is actually an id field – and is can be by some functionality as a key to groups things by – e.g. author views or author stats. So, if the email field is set for some creators, and not for others – and your author stats view is configured to group by creators (rather than creators_name), this *might* explain what you’re seeing? Cheers, John From: eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk [mailto:eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk]
On Behalf Of Greg Whitney Hi John, By Author IDs, do you mean Web of Science ResearcherID?? Or another kind of schema?? All our Master’s & PhD thesis’ authors are graduate students, so in most cases, they haven’t written or published any other documents.
Thanks!

Another thought: Do ALL your authors have IDs? Are the top authors the top authors that have a unique ID, whilst the top-paper-authors don’t have unique IDs? Cheers, John From:

On Behalf Of Alan.Stiles Hi Greg, There is the possibility that your top authors have multiple items which have each only been downloaded a lower number of times, but the total of which may be greater than the number of downloads each of your
top items has received. Hope that makes sense? Alan From: Greg Whitney [mailto:greg.whitney@polymtl.ca]
Hello, We installed IRStats on our EPrints 3.3.13 test server. The 5 Most Downloaded Items DO NOT correspond with the 5 Top Authors. See attached gif. The TOP 5 counts also vary greatly for both tables. It is Friday, so maybe I am missing something obvious, but shouldn’t the most downloaded items and top authors be identical. Unless there is another definition for Top Authors?? Thanks! Have a good week-end! Greg Whitney Polytechnique Montréal Library PS – Also, 16 834 downloads for our top PhD thesis seems to be a lot!! Given the rather precise subject of this document. Is there anyway of validating these crunched numbers?? -- The Open University is incorporated by Royal Charter (RC 000391), an exempt charity in England & Wales and a charity registered in Scotland (SC 038302).
