[EP-tech] Re: video thumbnails

It *should* be able to do them.

If you look in ~/perl_lib/EPrints/Plugin/Convert/Thumbnails.pm at the call_ffmpeg, it shows what it should try and do with a video.

You might need to check that your ffmpeg settings in:

~/lib/syscfg.d/invocations.pl

and

~/lib/syscfg.d/executables.pl

Maybe check the last one first…

Cheers,

John

Does anyone know about the video thumbnails?
Should eprints be generating them?
If it should generate thumbnails then it's something I need to look at.

Thanks Derek

Subject: [EP-tech] video thumbnails

Just wondering if I have to do something special to get eprints to
generate thumbnails for videos.
I definitely have ffmpeg installed (I know because it warns me that I
should use avconv as ffmpef is deprecated)
All of the standard image and file thumbnails are working, just wondering
if it might be taking a bit of time to do the videos?

I've been running:
./bin/epadmin redo_thumbnails myeprints 10 ‹verbose
With 10 being the eprint that I want to redo.
It appears to work fine appart from the two videos I have attached, I just
get a single line of text about them and it appears to move on to the next
file.
One of the videos is mp4 and the other a mov, I'm not sure it will do the
mov, but that's fine if I know a certain format Is best I can recommend
everyone uses it.

Also tried:
./bin/epadmin redo_mime_type myeprints 10 ‹verbose
But it doesn't seem to like that as I get:
Dataset must be one of 'document' or 'file'

Hope this makes sense to someone?

Thanks
