The best way to know,
would be for me to try this plugin myself.
Before I do that, here are two guesses off the top of my head, and a
general bit of advice.
Guess One:
You mentioned following the advice did not work.
Did you stop and restart the app?
It's typically done via the commandline, with...
apachectl restart
...however, my old notes have a more thorough way of doing it after
any plugins/ingredients are installed...
apachectl restart
epadmin test repo_name
epadmin update_dry_run repo_name
epadmin update repo_name
apachectl restart
Obviously, you'd put your repository name where repo_name goes.
Guess Two:
This file ( the apw_themes/templates/default.xml from the APW theme )....
https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbazaar.eprints.org%2F1195%2F1%2Fthemes%2Fapw_themes%2Ftemplates%2Fdefault.xml&data=05%7C02%7Ceprints-tech%40ecs.soton.ac.uk%7Cdf76991386a34f432fd808df22e05705%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0%7C0%7C639268019221174335%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C40000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=3wTtbYL6HeRZchULn7kOKLouR%2BwzJoYa1V6vTuwRRII%3D&reserved=0
...appears to have the line:
<form method="get" accept-charset="utf-8"
action="{$config{http_cgiurl}}/search">
...so it is fetching the base url for the search, from your
configurations' http_cgiurl value.
There's a little table on the EPrints wiki that shows all the
different variable names...
https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwiki.eprints.org%2Fw%2FEPrints_3.4.3%23Configuration_for_URLs_and_Paths&data=05%7C02%7Ceprints-tech%40ecs.soton.ac.uk%7Cdf76991386a34f432fd808df22e05705%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C0%7C0%7C639268019221200869%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C40000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=M6TkKpkR1VQrWVds4UYTJ8rCJ%2BBTcCzX0ipXoOuNVuQ%3D&reserved=0
...and it seems there is also one called https_cgiurl,
so you could try changing http_cgiurl to https_cgiurl in the
apw_themes/templates/default.xml file,
and see if that makes a difference.
Am aware that advice is for 3.4.3 rather than 3.4.7, so that's why
this is only a guess, to try.
General Advice:
Another tip, would be to setup your apache to translate any incoming
http request to a https request.
That way, if any part of your website/webapp/EPrints has a http link,
your apache could automatically convert it to https, so it's no big
deal to handle.
Obviously, this is a quick reply.
With more time, I could test myself if the above guesses work,
and I could look up how to do the http to https redirect in apache.
For now, I hope this helps.
Yours,
Andrew.

Hello,
referring to Message: #10156
I have been installing Eprints 3.4.7 with the APW theme (version 1.0,
currently in the bazzar). Its general search box on the welcome page is
broken. It seem that this box uses http:// whereas the installation
itself runs with https://. Consequently no items are found, whereas the
internal standard search works o.k.
Here is a reply from David Newman that may be related to this problem in
Message #10156
-------------
"However, if you are running an earlier version of EPrints 3.4, this may
not be the case, as we have been teasing out issues where HTTP is still
used when really HTTPS is the correct choice. In that case, you are
best copying lib/cfg.d/template_core.pl to you archive's cfg/cfg.d/
directory and where you have the following two lines:
$repo->current_url( host => 1, path => 'static' ),
$repo->current_url( host => 1, path => 'cgi' ),
Changing them to
$repo->current_url( host => 1, path => 'static', scheme
=> 'https' ),
$repo->current_url( host => 1, path => 'cgi', scheme =>
'https' ),
-------------
I tried to follow this advice but it did not work. Is there a way to fix
this?
h.h.
