Re: [EP-tech] Implementing custom metadata field into subject views

CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.

Ah! So was the customising of the static page needed to show the
custom description you'd added?

Now I have a better idea of what you were aiming for in the first place.

Even if you've used a club instead of a stick for the time being, am
happy to hear you did at least find a solution of some ilk for the
time being.

It's been a year since I last did a lot of EPrints stuff, so I will
have to look at subjects and views again to refresh myself on all
this, and then get back to you (other people on this group may know
more off the top of their head, than me). What I'll probably do, is
solve the same problem on my EPrints, and then share the approach I
take. I'm doing other stuff today, so I'll experiment with it later
and get back to you.

If it's a field, it could be a simple epc statement to show a
description if one exists, and not if it doesn't. I'd do a lot of this
on EPrint Summary pages, and cannot remember how view pages differ
without doing due diligence - hence I'll have to get back to you on
this, unless of course, others wish to offer their wisdom sooner...? =).

Yours,
Andrew.

Hello, me again,

I'm brainstorming about adding a custom (a "description", to be precise)
field into subjet tree. The creation went more or less painless, but
now I'd like to have it displayed once a subject with non-empty
description field is displayed in view.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to customize subject
views? There seems to be nothing in templates to work with.
