Hi Hirak,

Do you know how your subject tree was originally configured?

 

It could have been made as a subject file, following these instructions:

https://wiki.eprints.org/w/API:bin/import_subjects

or it might have been managed in the web interface (Admin -> Config tools -> Edit subject).

 

There are two ways of editing the subjects:-

  • export into either a text or XML document; edit the document; import the document
  • use the web interface to make changes – this is normally quicker for small edits.

 

I can provide more information about how to do either of these things.

 

One thing that neither of the options does it to resolve items that have been assigned one subject, that you want to replace with a new one.

If e.g. you want to remove 'division_abc'; add 'division_xyz' and move anything that belongs to division_abc to division_xyz.

I have a script that does this – it's not fully-commented – but I can add those and share it.

 

Let me know the answer to the first question and I will help some more.
