The as_string(<value>) method will output the raw value of a field rather than the rendered version.

There's also a substr(<value>,<offset>,<length>) which may prove useful here.

Not all the methods got documented on <https://wiki.eprints.org/w/EPScript> but you can find the full list of method names, at least, as the run_METHOD subs in
