[EP-tech] Re: Refreshing views

Hi Erica,

If you are wanting to refresh the views because you have made a change to the views.pl, then I believe you will also need to reload the repo configuration. You can do this either in the admin menu, or with the command  epadmin reload <repoid>.   If this is still not working, runt he generate_views with the —verbose flag to get more information about what is happening.

I am only just in the process of upgrading to 3.3.14, so I can’t help you too much with your missing subject views.  But I think there were changing in 3.3.14 with the subject hierarchy, so make sure when upgrading you run both upgrade and update to make any changes needed.

Subject: [EP-tech] Refreshing views

Hello,

A couple of question about views in Eprints. There probably quite basic for those who already work on the technical aspects of Eprints, but I could really do with some pointers.

We are having difficulties refreshing our views in Eprints 3.3.14. My colleagues in the IT department (who learning the ropes re managing Eprints) have run the gen_views job but the views have not changed. Is there an additional refresh job that needs to be run?

Also, we have views based on our divisions and also on our subjects. Divisions uses our official classification hierarchy and links with Symplectic Elements. Our subjects consists of our former classifications together with bespoke classifications that fall outside of those in divisions. They are not visible in the browse pages but enable us to group things together that are for certain projects. Since upgrading to 3.3.14 many of our subject views do not appear to be working (404 error), even when we know there is content assigned to a subject. Is there a way of checking what it going on?

Many thanks,

Erica
