[EP-tech] Re: Uploading documents on IE

Mine is uploading the document, and then I get the same error message.  Is yours not uploading the document at all?

Hello

James Caldow from here at QMU reported a similar problem back in April (here’s the email thread from then: http://www.eprints.org/tech.php/18901.html ). We’re still experiencing this, and since upgrading from IE 10 to IE11 in August, we now also get an error message which I’m attaching a screenshot of.

We’ve currently got a large backlog of papers waiting to be uploaded as a result of this, not to mention the requirements of the next REF to prepare for, so any advice or assistance would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Helen

Hi Seb,

The template does have that in the right place - I'm getting JS issues on my page, but not on the 3.3.11 page, so I think it's just because it's passing an imaginary box to the JS on my version.

I've had someone contact me off list to say they also have similar problems with 3.3.12.  Will see if we can identify any commonalities.

Hi Lizz,

I'm not a specialist of IE and related issues (always trying to run away from it), but check your template has:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />

as the first tag under <head>

Otherwise try to spot any _javascript_-related issues whilst loading the page?

Hi all,

I thought I'd broken this, but actually have gone to my live system
where I haven't messed around with the uploads and I'm getting the same
behaviour, so thought I'd ask if anyone else is having trouble with this.

My live system is running 3.3.11 (test is 3.3.12) with the ReCollect
plugin for data.

In Internet Explorer (11), I am getting two weird problems with file
uploads:

1)  It spawns an extra progress bar for no reason and then wonders why
it can't find the related imaginary file

2)  It includes the whole file path rather than just the file name

I can't see anything on github that fixes these, is it just me or is
this happening elsewhere?

Lizz
