[EP-tech] Re: Default email address for requests

Hi all,

This is what we do here – all requests go to a single library address, who pass them on to the authors or, in the occasional case it’s free to read online, point them towards a copy.

It works reasonably well, though we have to reply to a lot of requests for older papers with something along the lines of “sorry, they don’t work here any more, and we don’t have a copy we can send you”. Conversely, though, if the lead author isn’t around then we can always try passing it to a co-author, which might not be possible with an automated email.

Andrew.

Nothing to stop us brokering a request through to the author though? (had some discussion around doing similar with the OA button)

*Caution*
>From what I understand of the 'Request' feature, and it's 'legal' standing, it's only the author who can grant access to an embargoed paper.

Having said that, look in the comments in the ~/archives/ARCHIVEID/cfg/cfg.d/request_copy.pl file... :o)

Cheers,
John

Hello!

I’d like to be able to set a default email address for “Request a copy” messages to go to should the author of the record not have an email address set. Is this possible?

Andrew
