[EP-tech] Re: EPrints questions

Apologies for the delay in answering your question which was due to staff vacation over half term.

The answer to all your questions is "yes".

Dear E Prints,

This is a follow up e mail to one I sent over a week ago (27th May) which has not yet been responded to. I have sent this to both info@ and eprints-tech@ e mail address since it is a general enquiry but about technical issues. I am e mailing concerning EPrints suitability for a project I am involved in for the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. I refer you to my previous e mail:

I am currently looking at your software to potentially use as part of an artefacts project I am involved in. While EPrints is perhaps not a natural fit for the project, we would be sharing the software with another project – a digital repository project to which EPrints is well suited for. Essentially the artefacts project would use EPrints as a catalogue for internal use.

I have a few questions regarding EPrints and its suitability for the artefacts project:

· Can the catalogue be private? i.e. accessed only by certain people (internally within our organisation)

· Can one create and delete optional fields?

· Can fields be created and edited once the catalogue has been created?

· Is there an option to hide certain fields?

· Can one embed images into the catalogue?

· Does EPrints allow for advanced searches and indexing of items?

· Can EPrints import data from databases such as Microsoft SharePoint?

· Is EPrints multi user and can be accessed from anywhere?

Regards,

Michael
