Andrew, If you're on a recent-ish version of EPrints, the Captcha is there for the taking ;o) If you look at ~/archives/ARCHIVEID/cfg/workflow/request/default.xml, it's there, but commented out. I wrote this as a guide: http://wiki.eprints.org/w/Recaptcha - if there's anything wrong in the instructions, let me know or edit it! I’ve just been investigating an issue internally with “Request a copy” forms being used by bots to generate spam emails. The current solution here is to remove the contact email from the record, removing this option altogether which I don’t really think is a solution at all. Has anyone else encountered this and come up with a better solution? Perhaps tying a CAPTCHA box into this form?
