******** Apologies for cross-posting ********

RELEASE OF AGRIS 2.0

The FAO of the United Nations [1] and the Agricultural Information Management Standards (AIMS) Community [2] are pleased to announce a new webinar entitled “Release of AGRIS 2.0: Searching agricultural bibliografic data in an interlinked environment" [3]. The session will take place on 3rd of December 2013 – 16:00 Rome Time [4] and will be presented by Johannes Keizer, information systems officer of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Italy) and Fabrizio Celli, information management specialist of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Italy).

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

The webinar will describe both the new search functions of AGRIS 2.0 as well as its technical foundations: changes in the AGRIS architecture lead to a facilitated search and precise search results. Furthermore AGRIS 2.0 incorporates the OpenAGRIS system, so that it provides a mashup page for every specific resource with related information from other web sources via automatic extraction. Changes of the interface and the new look-and-feel lead to more user-friendliness and an intuitive handling of the page. The webinar will address these functions and introduce the new interface.
Furthermore the webinar will reveal the technical backgrounds of the page, especially regarding the linkages to other web resources by applying the principles of Linked Open Data and querying WebServices provided by external sources of information.
The webinar addresses agricultural researchers, librarians, information management specialists, software developers, agricultural journal editors, related data providers and other interested people.

REGISTRATION

The session is open to anyone but places are limited. If you are interested to attend the webinar, send an e-mail to AIMS@fao.org, containing the following information: your name, affiliation, role and country.
