Malcolm, If you change the target of the PIRUS endpoint from their service URL, to something you can monitor the logs from (doesn't have to do anything sensible, just something that Apache will write into a log - maybe http://your-repository/isPIRUSdoingAnything ), and then see if you get anything in your local logs (probably error/404 logs), then you'll be able to confirm that the extension if firing as expected. If you can see some activity from that, I'd check that you have outbound internet access (e.g. does your Bazaar work OK? Did it need any tinkering to get it working? - I'm thinking http_proxy type stuff).
