[EP-tech] Re: mysqldump problem with cachetables

Hi,

I'm having a problem using mysqldump to backup my EPrints 3.2.3 database.

I'm using command:
mysqldump --opt --user=root --password=mypassword --skip-lock-tables eprints > /backups/eprints/mysql-eprints323.sql

It's complaining about cache tables:

Error: Couldn't read status information for table cache1812586 ()
mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show create table `cache1812586`': Table 'eprints.cache1812586' doesn't exist (1146)

When I check I find I have 858 cache tables.
I'm thinking I might have to stop apache to deny access while I do my backup. But, it was ok a few weeks ago. Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Malcolm.

Hi Malcom,

you might use --force to "force" mysqldump to continue the backup.

Before starting the backup, you might use "epadmin cleanup_cachemaps *repository_id*" command to drop orphaned cache
