Hi John, The issue i am having is ", David Whitehead" but in my database both the given and family names are as they should be i.e. given = David and family = Whitehead but it still outputs like ", David Whitehead". I am sure i am just missing one of the 3.1 files which fixed this problem but i have no clue which one, if i get any more information i will let you know, Kind regards, David Whitehead. -----Original Message----- From: eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk on behalf of John Salter Sent: Wed 2/27/2013 5:48 PM To: 'eprints-tech@ecs.soton.ac.uk' Subject: [EP-tech] Re: comma before authors name - eprints 3.3 On re-reading your email, this might not be *quite* the same thing you're describing. We've got e.g.: Family: [not defined] Given: John Logie Baird Currently renders as ", John Logie Baird". Is it John Logie-Baird, or John-Logie Baird (if you see what I mean)? It looks like the name field expects the family to be set whatever, and sticks a comma in if it's order is fg (family, given). I've got this far: 1. ~/perl_lib/EPrints/Repository.pm => 'render_name' 2. ~/perl_lib/EPrints/Utils.pm => 'make_name_string' Just about to sort through the logic - we're using the term 'given' as a whole name if we can 't sensibly split it up into family/firstname/initials etc. If I get it working before you do, I'll let you know! Cheers, John -----Original Message----- From: eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk [mailto:eprints-tech-bounces@ecs.soton.ac.uk] On Behalf Of David Whitehead Sent: 27 February 2013 16:15 To: eprints-tech@ecs.soton.ac.uk Subject: [EP-tech] comma before authors name - eprints 3.3 Hi All, I am sure this will be a simple answer but I just cannot find it for the life of me. For some reason all views in creators have the comma before the entire name instead of separating the given and family name. This is also causing issues when editing an EPrint as its not putting the given and family name in the box, its only putting the family name due to the comma being in the wrong place. I was wondering if anyone knows where the file is that I need to edit to change this. I have been looking through the cfg/cfg.d/view.pl file but cannot see the reason it is generating the comma before the names. Any help you could give would be amazing thanks very much, Kind regards, David Whitehead.
