Adding a field to the creators field is very simple*, and it will automagically appear in the interface..... but do you plan to DO anything with it, or just accept the string that people fill in?
[*] Edit cfg/cfg.d/eprint_fields.pl and add { name=>orcid, type=>text },to the definition of the creator (and editor/any other person-identification set you want, then rebuild the database with
epadmin update_database_structure *repository_id* .... and restart the server (that's EP 3.2 - in EPrints 3.3 its epadmin update *repository_id* -- Ian Stuart.
