OK... I see

I mean would it be easier to set up a new server (VM) and migrate the data ?

Is there an easy way to do that?

e.g. 
- Start an XML export on the old system which contains all METDATA including the documents (embedded)
- Start an import on the new system which reads the XML file and imports METDATA and files?

With the current architecture of ePrints a smooth migration procedure/tool would very much help.
Is there such a tool?

Quite a few changes between 3.2 and 3.3, others may comment but my overall impression is the migration isn't too bad. Your mileage will vary with how much customisation you've made.

>From 3.2 you won't see this change because it is only in the default
template. You *may* wish to integrate the new features into your existing template(s).

It won't automatically appear. We should probably create a widget for doing that :-)

Note: there is a known regression in 3.3.8 that will be fixed in 3.3.9 relating to new items not being ordered correctly.
